Images of the Reformation from the Concordia Historical Institute Collection
Luther commented in his Invocavit sermons of 1522 that the Word of God reformed the church while he, Melanchthon and Amsdorf drank Wittenberg beer. Luther and the reformers responded to the Gospel by pressing music and the arts into service.
As The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod’s department of archives and history, Concordia Historical Institute (CHI) is making available many of its rich, historical images for use in celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. These images from the CHI collection can be used freely in church bulletins, newsletters, Bible studies and publicity materials. We only ask that any images used be credited: “Image courtesy of Concordia Historical Institute.” Higher resolution images may also be available. To secure permission to use these images on items for sale, send a request to dharmelink@lutheranhistory.org.
